Winter is over and dreams of summer are right around the corner. With this in mind, it was time to make some fabulous fruity and floral summer inspired soap cupcakes. The batch ended up being too small, I was looking to make a dozen cupcakes, but could only do 10 and those were a little thin. The soap icing was piped a little too early – leading to the icing collapsing a bit under it’s own weight. We are always most critical of ourselves, these sexy little summer cupcakes turned out well and those that receiving them will enjoy them regardless of my mis-givings of the result.
Fragrance Oils: Candle Science Sex on the Beach (1 oz), Wholesale Supplies Plus Island Nectar (1oz) – frangrance was blended with Kanolin clay and added at trace.
Colorants: Cupcake Style 1: Wholesale Supplies Plus Banana Boat and Wholesale Supplies Plus Pink Watermelon/ Cupcake Style 2: Wholesale Supplies Plus Pink Watermelon / Frosting: Titanium Dioxide
Additives: Goat milk added to oil blend, tussah silk dissolved in lye, sodium lactate
Oil Blend: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Olive Oil, Canola Oil, Castor Oil, Shea Butter, Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil
For this mix, I made the base and frosting in the same batch with a slow moving base, not a good idea. I would suggest mixing the frosting batch first to let it set-up and stiffen while blending the soap for the cupcakes.
